Texas man arrested for saving a drowning man

On NPR last night, they interviewed a man in Texas who saved another man from drowning. Instead of being thanked by police, Dave Newman, the rescuer, was promptly arrested and taken to jail. Onlookers yelled at the police while two men, a local businessman and a pastor, tried to block the police from putting him into their police car.

As of right now, they are still planning on charging the rescuer with “interference”. The rescuee, Abed Duamni, will be testifying on behalf of Mr. Newman.

I guess the moral is to not do what you believe is right…. Or maybe it is to not make the police look incompetent.

Google has more.
