Best Sopapilla Recipe. Ever.
- 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1 1/2 c. lukewarm milk
- 1 egg
- 1/3 c. honey or sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 5 c. flour
Dissolve yeast in water, add milk, mix in egg, honey or sugar, salt, and flour. Knead. Let rise until double – 1/2 hour. Punch down and place in refrigerator until ready to use. When ready to use – roll dough out very thin – cut into triangle shapes and deep fat fry. Be sure to immerse dough into oil – this makes it puff up. Sprinkle with cinnamon/sugar mixture.
OR top with ice cream, chocolate sauce, etc.
U.S. Government tracking your car?
I was reading a slashdot story when I happened upon this post claiming that the U.S. Government is tracking cars using embedded RFID chips in tires. I recalled reading something about it awhile ago, but only thought it was for border crossings (Canada/Mexico). From this post it seems they want to track you when you drive on the Interstate, under overpasses, and across state/boundary borders.
Of course, this will never be abused comrade. May I see your papers?
Serenity…now!
I watched Serenity last weekend after having watched all the Firefly DVDs a few days before. Two words — it rocks! The writing continued well from the series even though it was three years old. Here’s to hoping that a new Firefly series is put on the air.

Best Album of 2005
It was a tough choice, but after listening and comparing the new albums released this year I have finally decided on my winner. Def Leppard’s Hysteria receives my nomination as the best album of 2005.
Congratulations!
Texas man arrested for saving a drowning man
On NPR last night, they interviewed a man in Texas who saved another man from drowning. Instead of being thanked by police, Dave Newman, the rescuer, was promptly arrested and taken to jail. Onlookers yelled at the police while two men, a local businessman and a pastor, tried to block the police from putting him into their police car.
As of right now, they are still planning on charging the rescuer with “interference”. The rescuee, Abed Duamni, will be testifying on behalf of Mr. Newman.
I guess the moral is to not do what you believe is right…. Or maybe it is to not make the police look incompetent.
In the name of “National Security”
Five pages of a disturbing account about a student hassled by the police for photographing a public landmark.
Searching for former UNCA and Garden City, KS classmates
I’m trying to find former classmates from UNCA who were there from between 1996-2000, and those from Kenneth Henderson Middle School in Garden City, KS.
Not that anybody ever reads these messages, but maybe somebody will enter my name in Google.
